Peer Supports and Mentors offer encouragement and the benefits of their lived experience. They are people with either a mental illness or developmental disability who have learned successful life strategies through their own experiences.
Peer Supports and Mentors know that being a self-advocate starts with self-determination. They know the benefits of living independently. In addition, they understand how to be part of the community and navigate housing, education, benefits, transportation, and entitlements. Peer Supports and Peer Mentors involve friends and family as determined by the individuals they support.
